Many adults suffer from anxiety, depression and thoughts of suicide. We have all recently experienced a year like no other. But moving forward together is about more than that. Our two biggest conferences of the year Jack Henry SM Annual Conference (JAC) & TechConnect and Symitar Educational Conference (SEC) & TechConnect will run concurrently under the same roof, with both virtual and in-person offerings. Our hope is this post will be the spark that causes many of us to take the brave step to engage a teen that may be struggling. This is a small Bible study chat group of about 60 people at Jack Henry and as you read this, it’s shocking how many of these people have been impacted by teen suicide. What amazed me was how widespread teen suicide is. The entire string is below and if you’ll take 5 minutes to read it, you will be heartbroken, inspired, thankful, shocked, encouraged to do something, and many other emotions will flood through you. Well, I got a Team’s chat last week that hit me like a hammer. If you’re like me, most get a quick glance and if it doesn’t capture my attention immediately, it is deleted or ignored.

In 1992, the SEC was the first NCAA Division I conference to hold a championship game (and award a subsequent title) for football and was one of the founding member conferences of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). Members of the SEC have won many national championships: 43 in football, 21 in basketball, 41 in indoor track, 42 in outdoor track, 24 in swimming, 20 in gymnastics, 15 in baseball (College World Series), and one in volleyball. The league will expand to sixteen members with the upcoming addition of the University of Texas and University of Oklahoma, which are slated to join in 2024. Three charter members had left by the late 1960s, but subsequent additions in 19 grew the conference to fourteen member institutions.
